How to convert a PDF to Word
Indy PDF Studio can turn a PDF into a Word document (DOCX) as well as plain text or HTML. Conversion runs in your browser and is free during the introductory period. It converts the text for further editing; it is not an exact copy of the original layout.
Try it free in the editorStep by step
- Open the PDF in the editor.
- For a scan, run OCR first and check the OCR language.
- Open the Word and more menu in the top bar.
- Choose DOCX. For plain text pick TXT, for the web HTML.
- Open the downloaded file in Word and check paragraphs, tables and numbers.
What the conversion keeps
Word export uses the edited PDF or OCR text, basic fonts and page breaks, and the text stays editable. Complex layouts, columns, tables and exact image positions may not convert one to one. To keep the look and change just a few words, edit the PDF directly instead.
Scans and photos of documents
A scanned page is an image, so without OCR Word would get no text. A sharp, straight scan means fewer corrections.
Translate first, then export
Because Word export uses the current text in the editor, you can translate the document first and then export the translation to DOCX for final touches.
