How to sign a PDF
For everyday documents, orders or consent forms a drawn signature is often enough. In Indy PDF Studio you create it right in your browser without printing and scanning. The document is not uploaded to a server.
Try it free in the editorStep by step
- Open the PDF in the editor.
- In Insert and recognize choose the Signature tool.
- Draw your signature with a mouse, touchpad or finger on a touch screen.
- Place the signature in the right spot on the page.
- Check the document and export the PDF. If the signature should not be easy to separate from the page, choose Flattened PDF.
A drawn signature is not a certified e-signature
An inserted drawing is like a scanned handwritten signature. It is not an advanced or qualified electronic signature (for example under eIDAS) and carries no certificate. Where a recognized electronic signature is required, use a certificate-based solution.
When a drawn signature is enough
Orders, handover protocols, school consent forms or internal documents where the other party accepts a signed scan. If unsure, ask the recipient which form of signature they need.
